Regulatory Sandbox: Health RegLab Design Elements

Abstract

Regulatory Sandboxes are becoming more and more popular to drive an agile government agenda. They help policymakers deal with the uncertainty of new technologies and plan for the intended and unintended impact of these new technologies in the market and onthe public. Nevertheless, the information on how to design a sandbox and its results are not very transparently presented. This paper presents a synthesis of the state-of-impact and focuses on best practices for developing a health regulatory sandbox. The focus is on the UAE, and the paper provides recommendations on how to develop a regulatory Sandbox for Health.
